House on fire writing

House on fire
I wake up from the crackling noise and I got up and opened the door. I screamed and
I called a person. They  called me back.
I talked to my dad. “Hi Dad,” I said.
“How have you been doing?”
“Well, I’m kinda in a middle of a fire,” I said. As soon as I told  him he screamed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

“You stupid idiot! Get out of the house.”

Tree planting at Waitahuna.

On Tuesday Room 7 and Room 4, some parents, Mrs May and Marie came to my farm. There were lots of other people there too, they were from Landcare, Department Of Conservation and the Otago Regional Council.

We planted flaxes along the river. We had to get into groups, my group was Angus and I and a lady from the Otago Regional Council that helped us. We had to dig a deep hole we had to take the plant out of the black bag and put the black bag into a cone bag to recycle them. We had to mash the dirt up and then we put the plant in the hole and we had to put the dirt on the top and we had to stomp on the dirt so if something steps on the plant it won’t come out. We were told not to put our back to the water in case we fell in.

The two classes planted 200 flaxes. Dad and the other people that came planted 800 more when we left.

Keiran from Landcare showed everyone an eel that he had caught in a net. He also showed us a lamprey eel sometimes they are called sucker eels because they don’t have a jaw they suck their food. When they are little and are coming back from Tonga they are see through. I had never seen one before. He caught the lamprey while he was doing the electric fishing and also a little brown trout.

Athletics day

On Friday we had our school athletics. I came first equal  in sprints with Logan for the 60 metres and for the 100 metres. I came second in Nerf throwing but Lochie Wark beat me. My favourite event was the high jump. I jumped 85cm. Next week I am going to the South Otago primary athletics for sprints. I can't wait!
